April : In Review

April flew past! This month it was the first birthday of my beautiful baby boy. We had a lovely day with close family and in nature. I really enjoyed making a froggy cake for him, decorated with marzipan.

✨TEACHING
I've started working on some new sewing Skillshare classes, which will be launching over the next few months. I have been amazed that we had lots of new pupils get involved with my current classes...90 students and 2,845 minutes of classes watched since we launched! Thanks for taking part :-) If you'd like to learn singing or DIY album production from me, sign up for free HERE.

📗LEARNING
This month I've been learning about learning! My focus has been on education and different models of education. I started by stumbling on this inspiring TED Talk by Sir Ken Robinson about Finding Your Element and then went up a Ken Robinson and alternative education vortex! Including these videos:
Sahdguru and Ken Robinson in Conversation - The Ideal Education
In Conversation with Naomi Fisher - The Psychology behind Self-Directed Education
Talk by the Founder of The Agile Learning Centre New York - The Medium is the Message

🎤SINGING
My favourite singing moments have been singing with my Singing Mamas Choir and in a new female trio. We are in the process of booking some performances with the trio - will keep you posted! I also filmed a cover of Wax and Wane by Penny Stone and a 4-part version of Dawn Chorus on Instagram.

👗SEWING
I made a new matching outfit for me and B which we wore on his birthday!
The dungarees are the same design as before for Bobby (apart from no gathering at the ankles and no pocket). My dress is a new design which is made of just 4 rectangles of fabric, gathered together. I'm planning on making some Sewing Classes for Skillshare. Is there anything particular you'd like to learn?

🎵MUSIC
Because I've been recording and singing so much I haven't been listening as much as usual, but I've been enjoying Florence and The Machine's new music video for Free

✏️DRAWING
After listening to Ken Robinson's talk I doodled about "Finding Your Element". He says that the clue to finding your element is to think back to moments which were "intoxicating", that "took your breath away" and you felt like you could "never forget the feeling". Most of mine involved singing!

Hope you’ve all had a lovely April.
Big Hug
